One of central Kentucky's quiet back roads There were Baptist churches all along our route. Give this guy a call if you'd like to have your mailbox remodeled.

Bob & Missy visited us in Berea and brought dinner with them.

We got up at 4:00 this morning, ate the breakfast we purchased at the Gateway grocery last night, and started riding at 5:00.  You could say we were a little anxious to get to Berea for our visit with Bob and Missy.

It was foggy this morning so everything got soaked and stayed that way the whole day.  We arrived in Berea at 11:30 and checked into the Days Inn near Interstate 75.  We called our son and left a message on his cell phone letting him know where we were staying and then took care of some necessary jobs.

Ron and Gary replaced the back tires on their bikes, getting them ready for the last leg of the journey.  Because of the heat and humidity we decided to stay in motels for the final days of the trip.  That meant we could pack up the camping gear and send it home with Bob and Missy.  After sorting through all of our stuff we were able to pack the remaining gear in 4 panniers.  Gary will be carrying 2 and Ron the other 2, leaving Carol with an empty bike - except for her handle bar bag.  We're ready for the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains.

Bob and Missy arrived at 3:00 in the afternoon and they brought a feast - meatball sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, veggies and dip, chips, raspberry tea, and a peach praline pie to top it off.  Wow!  The 5 of us gave our best effort at finishing all the food off, but sorry to say there were leftovers.  We wished Art was there to help.

It was good to visit with the kids.  Time went by quickly and we hated to say goodbye.  Their two and a half hour trip will put them home just in time for bed.  Tonight we will have pleasant dreams of good food, good fellowship, and lighter bikes in the morning.
