Another time over the Continental Divide!

What a night we had!  We didn't sleep a wink!

First came 2 dozen kids (at least it seemed that way) that descended on the park shortly after we went to bed.  They stayed playing, shouting, and generally having a good time (we weren't) till well after dark.  When they finally left the park we could still hear them as they walked around town. Especially one boy with a high pitched voice that cut through the night.  The sound of these kids encouraged two dogs to start barking.  We weren't enjoying this orchestral arrangement!

Next came the young men from town with their loud mufflered pickup trucks.  The perimeter of the park had a road around it and these guys drove it like NASCAR wannabes.  This went on till well after midnight.  When it did stop there was quiet again and we still had hopes of getting some sleep.

The park irrigation system came on using huge golf course type sprinklers that soaked everything, including our camping area.  We had to get up and move our things out of the way till it stopped, then go back to bed.  That was until the next zone came on and soaked us from the other direction.  Things were wet for packing in the morning.

Finally, a large trailer with a refrigeration unit ran for 5 minutes every half hour for the rest of the night.  The sound was so loud we thought the thing was parked next to the gazebo.  We forgot about trying to get any sleep.

We crawled out of the tents at dawn, packed up our gear, and headed to town for breakfast, including a large cup of coffee.  The Rocky Mountain French toast at the Coffee Pot Cafe was good.  The conversation with the young college student who stopped in just to talk with us was refreshing, but we were shot before we even started.

We passed two groups of westbound cyclists while climbing to Muddy Pass.  Mark and Emily Blaskey were being followed by an RV sag, driven by their massage therapist friend Jackie (can you believe it?).  Two guys from New Zealand and one from Boston stopped and chatted near the top.

It was a long day on the bikes.  We finally made it to Kremmling and are hoping to have a good night's sleep in the Red Mountain RV Park.  Things look promising.
