When we entered Colorado it had the same desert landscape as Wyoming. The well kept Walden Town Park. Our campsite in the park was a quite, serene setting - until the sun went down!

We were told by our waitress at the Moose Creek Cookhouse that Walden is the Moose Spotting Capital of Colorado.  We didn't see a one.

We entered Colorado today, but you'd never know it except for the welcome sign.  The landscape is still dry, sagebrush covered plains.

Ron had a flat near the top of one of the long grades we had to climb today.  It was the back tire (of course) and you could see threads showing through, so he changed both tire and tube.  That's two flats in two days.  Hope it's not a sign of things to come.

We arrived in Walden early in the afternoon and went straight to the library to send out an email.  They had a nice facility and the librarian was very pleasant.  Once finished there it was off to the town park to set up camp.

Walden's town park is a well kept, scenic park in the center of town.  There are bathroom facilities, lots of lush grass, a large gazebo, water, and many well landscaped flower beds.  There is a pool next to the park where cyclists can take a shower.  It looked like the perfect place to get a good night's sleep.

We set up our tents inside the gazebo in case of rain, a real cozy setup.  Then it was off to the pool to get a shower, but when we got there it was closed.  The alternative was to wash up in the bathroom.  It turned out there was only cold water, doors that wouldn't close the whole way, and a severe problem with the drains.  The "bath" was interesting, but we survived.  Back at the camp site Ron was having a problem explaining to a grandmother, watching her two grandsons, that we were allowed to camp in the park.  She wanted us to move our gear out of the gazebo so she could use the table to sit and read.  We tried to reason with her, but she left in a huff.

Next came a hard shower where the rain came down horizontally and drenched our campsite.  Fortunately it didn't last long and we had time to dry things out before dark.  Maybe this isn't the perfect place we originally thought.

Dinner at the Moose Creek Cookhouse was tasty and filling.
